Guide
How to Play Bubble Shooter
Bubble Shooter is an arcade puzzle about aiming and setting up drops. Match three or more colors to pop them, cut clusters loose from the ceiling, and clear every level before a bubble crosses the line.
Play Bubble ShooterThe objective
Clear every bubble. Keep the board off the line.
Bubble Shooter is a single-player browser puzzle. A launcher at the bottom of the board fires a colored bubble in whatever direction you aim. When that bubble joins a group of two or more of the same color, the whole connected group pops.
You clear a level by removing every bubble. The run ends when any bubble is forced past the red line just above the launcher. There is no timer — the skill is in reading the board and choosing where each bubble goes.
The game is free, runs in the browser, and needs no account. Open play Bubble Shooter when you want the board; use this guide for the rules, controls, and the habits that keep a run alive.
Controls
Mouse, keyboard, or touch
Aiming is continuous; firing is a single input. The dotted guide line shows exactly where the bubble goes, bounces included.
Desktop
Mouse
Move the mouse to aim; the launcher tracks the pointer and a dotted line previews the bounce path. Click anywhere on the board to fire. Right-side and left-side walls both reflect shots.
Desktop
Keyboard
Arrow Left / Right (or A / D) nudge the aim a precise step at a time. Space, Enter, or Arrow Up fires. S swaps the current and next bubble. M toggles sound.
Phone & tablet
Touch
Drag a finger across the board to aim, then lift off to shoot. A dedicated fire button and two rotate buttons sit under the board for tap-only play, and tapping the launcher swaps your two bubbles.
The loop
Five steps, repeated every shot
Every shot follows the same sequence. Understanding it is most of what “getting good” at Bubble Shooter means.
- 1
Aim the launcher
Move your mouse or drag your finger across the board to swing the launcher at the bottom. A dotted guide line shows the path your bubble will take, including one or two bounces off the side walls.
- 2
Fire a bubble
Click, tap, or press the space bar to launch the bubble sitting in the launcher. The next bubble’s color is always shown so you can plan the shot after this one.
- 3
Match three or more colors
When a fired bubble joins two or more of the same color, the whole connected group of that color pops. Bigger groups score more and are worth setting up on purpose.
- 4
Drop the bubbles left hanging
Any bubbles that lose their last connection to the ceiling after a pop fall off the board for bonus points. Cutting a support with a single shot can clear a huge section at once.
- 5
Clear the board to advance
Remove every bubble to finish the level and move to the next, denser one. If any bubble is pushed below the red line near the launcher, the run ends.
Scoring & game over
How a Bubble Shooter run is actually scored
The rules stay the same from the first level to the last. Only the starting field and the number of colors change.
The objective
Each level starts with rows of colored bubbles at the top. Fire bubbles from the launcher to form connected groups of three or more of the same color; every matched group pops. Clear every bubble to win the level.
Matching and dropping
A bubble only pops as part of a same-color group of three or more that includes the one you just fired. After a pop, any bubbles no longer connected to the top row detach and fall — those drops are where the largest scores come from.
Scoring
Popped bubbles score 10 each, with a bonus for groups larger than three. Bubbles that fall after losing their anchor score 30 each. Clearing the whole board adds a level bonus that grows as levels get harder.
Pressure and game over
Fire several bubbles in a row without a single pop and a fresh row is added at the top, pushing everything down. The run ends the moment any bubble is forced past the red line just above the launcher.

How levels ramp
One ruleset, rising pressure
There are no difficulty menus. Every cleared board hands you a fuller, slightly harder one, and the color count climbs from four to six.
- 01 · Levels 1–2
Early levels
Four bubble colors and a shallow field. Room to experiment with bank shots and to learn how a single well-placed bubble can drop a whole hanging cluster.
- 02 · Levels 3–5
Mid levels
A fifth color enters and the starting rows sit lower. Reading the next bubble and keeping the board low both start to matter; sloppy shots trigger a row drop quickly.
- 03 · Levels 6+
Deep levels
All six colors are in play and the field starts close to the line. Survival depends on setting up big multi-bubble matches and the chain drops they cause, not on clearing bubbles one at a time.
Common mistakes
Why most runs end
Bubble Shooter losses are usually planning errors, not bad luck. These are the patterns that march a board toward the line.
Ignoring the next bubble
Firing the current bubble without checking what comes next wastes half your planning. A shot that leaves an obvious match for the following bubble is almost always better than one that pops a single group now.
Only shooting straight
Refusing to use the walls leaves whole pockets of the board unreachable. The dotted guide exists so you can line up bank shots — practice reading it and the board opens up.
Letting the board creep down
Every no-pop shot brings a row drop closer. If you are not actively clearing the lowest rows, the field marches toward the red line until one bad shot ends the run.
Popping threes on autopilot
Quick three-bubble pops feel productive but barely dent the board. Spending a shot to build a group of five, then dropping its neighbors, clears far more for the same effort.
Strategy habits
Tips to score higher
Treat these as habits, not shortcuts. The rules never change; your planning does. For a deeper walkthrough, see the full tips page.
- Watch the dotted guide and use bank shots — angling off a wall reaches gaps a straight shot cannot.
- Aim for the bubble holding a cluster to the ceiling; drop the anchor and everything under it falls for bonus points.
- Always read the next bubble before you fire, so your current shot sets up the one after it.
- Clear the lowest rows first to keep the board away from the red line and buy yourself time.
- Park a mismatched color against a wall where it blocks the least, rather than in the middle of the field.
- Big groups beat quick pops: a four- or five-bubble match plus the drop it triggers is worth far more than three singles.
Where you can play
Same game on phone and desktop
BubbleShooterOnline.app runs in any modern browser. You do not install an app from a store. If two devices disagree about your best score, that is expected: progress never leaves the browser you played in.
Desktop browsers
Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari all run BubbleShooterOnline.app with no plugin. Aim with the mouse and click to fire, or use the arrow keys and space bar for precise, keyboard-only play.
Phones and tablets
The game is touch-first. Drag to aim and lift to shoot, or use the on-screen fire and rotate buttons below the board. The layout keeps the playfield and controls above the fold in portrait.
Progress on this device
