This FAQ is the long-form reference for BubbleShooterOnline.app: the free arcade puzzle where you aim a launcher, match three or more colored bubbles, and drop the clusters left hanging. It covers how to start, how scoring and row drops work, how bank shots reach hidden gaps, and why progress lives on your device instead of an account.

Getting started
What Bubble Shooter is, whether it is free, and how to start playing in your browser.
What is Bubble Shooter?
Bubble Shooter is a single-player arcade puzzle game. A launcher at the bottom of the screen fires colored bubbles up into a packed grid of bubbles at the top. When a fired bubble touches two or more others of the same color, that whole connected group pops. Bubbles that are then cut off from the ceiling fall away. You clear a level by removing every bubble, and the game ends if a bubble is forced below the line near the launcher. The format dates back to the 1994 arcade game Puzzle Bobble (Bust-a-Move); BubbleShooterOnline.app is a free, modern browser version.
Is Bubble Shooter free to play online?
Yes. BubbleShooterOnline.app is completely free and runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to buy, download, or install, and there are no ads interrupting a run, premium tiers, or paywalls. Open the page and you can start playing immediately.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. BubbleShooterOnline.app is a 100% browser-based game built with HTML, JavaScript, and the Canvas API. It loads in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, and other modern browsers on desktop and mobile without a plugin, app store listing, or installer.
Who created the original Bubble Shooter?
The genre began with Taito’s Puzzle Bobble (known as Bust-a-Move outside Japan) in 1994, which used characters from Bubble Bobble. The simplified single-launcher, top-down “bubble shooter” seen on the web was popularized in the 2000s by browser and Flash versions. BubbleShooterOnline.app is an independent implementation of that classic loop, built for the modern browser.
Is Bubble Shooter family-friendly?
Yes. It is a single-player color-matching puzzle with no chat, no user-generated content, and no in-game purchases. It works well as a quiet, screen-friendly game for a wide age range and as a short mental break.
Rules and scoring
How aiming, matching, dropping, scoring, row drops, and game over work.
How do I play Bubble Shooter?
Aim the launcher by moving your mouse or dragging your finger, then click, tap, or press the space bar to fire. Try to land your bubble against two or more of the same color so the group pops. After a pop, any bubbles no longer attached to the top row drop off for bonus points. Keep clearing until the board is empty to finish the level.
How does scoring work in Bubble Shooter?
Each bubble in a popped group is worth 10 points, with an added bonus for groups larger than three. Bubbles that fall after losing their connection to the ceiling are worth 30 points each, so a single shot that drops a big cluster can score more than several ordinary pops. Clearing the whole board adds a level-completion bonus that increases with the level number.
What makes the bubbles move down?
Firing several bubbles in a row without popping anything adds a new row of bubbles at the top and pushes the whole field down by one row. It is the game’s pressure mechanic: if you are not clearing bubbles, the board slowly advances toward the red line.
Can I swap the current and next bubble?
Yes. Press S on a keyboard, or tap the launcher on a touchscreen, to swap the bubble you are about to fire with the one queued behind it. It is useful when the next color is a much better fit for the shot you want to make.
What are the controls for Bubble Shooter?
On desktop, move the mouse to aim and click to fire; the arrow keys or A and D nudge the aim, space or Enter fires, and S swaps bubbles. On a touchscreen, drag to aim and release to shoot, use the fire and rotate buttons under the board, or tap the launcher to swap. The M key toggles sound on and off everywhere.
Strategy and levels
How to win a level, how bank shots work, and how the game gets harder as you go.
How do you win a level in Bubble Shooter?
Clear every bubble from the board. The fastest way is rarely to pop groups one at a time — it is to fire into a bubble that is holding a large cluster to the ceiling, so that popping a small group drops the entire cluster underneath it. Bank shots off the side walls let you reach anchors that a straight shot cannot.
How does Bubble Shooter get harder?
Each level starts with more rows already on the board and, past the early levels, more distinct colors — four at first, rising to six. More colors make matches rarer, and a lower starting field leaves less margin before a row drop becomes dangerous. There is no time limit; the difficulty is entirely in board management.
What is a bank shot?
A bank shot bounces your bubble off a side wall to reach a spot a straight shot cannot — a gap in a corner, or the far side of an overhang. The dotted aim guide previews the bounce, so line the end of the guide up with your target rather than aiming at the target directly.
Why did nothing pop when my colors matched?
A group only pops if it contains three or more bubbles of the same color connected to each other, including the bubble you just fired. Two matching bubbles are not enough, and two separate pairs of the same color do not combine unless they touch.
What is the fastest way to raise my score?
Set up drops. Popping a three-bubble group scores about 30 points; using that same pop to cut a fifteen-bubble cluster loose from the ceiling adds roughly 450 more. Look for the one bubble that is holding a large section up, and remove its support instead of chipping at the section directly.
Devices, saving, and accounts
Mobile play, browsers, local progress, apps, and why a run might disappear.
Does BubbleShooterOnline.app save my progress?
Yes. Your best score, best level reached, games played, and total bubbles popped are saved locally in your own browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and there is no account or login. Because the save lives on the device, a different phone, a new browser profile, or cleared site data will look like a fresh start.
Can I play Bubble Shooter on mobile?
Yes. The game is touch-first: drag on the board to aim and lift your finger to shoot, or use the on-screen fire and rotate buttons. The layout adapts to phones, tablets, and desktops without a separate app, and keeps the board and controls visible without scrolling.
Can I play Bubble Shooter offline?
BubbleShooterOnline.app is a browser game and needs a connection to load the page the first time. After that, some browsers may keep the tab responsive without a network connection, but there is no dedicated offline app or install package.
Is there a Bubble Shooter app?
No separate app is required — the game is the website. You can bookmark it or add the tab to your phone’s home screen if your browser supports that, but you still play in the browser. We do not publish a separate iOS or Android build.
Do I need an account to play Bubble Shooter?
No. There is no sign-up, no email gate, and no profile. Your best score, best level, and stats stay in this browser on this device. The tradeoff is that we cannot restore a run on a new device for you, since nothing is stored on our servers.
How do I reset my Bubble Shooter progress?
Open Stats from the game menu, choose Reset progress, then confirm with the second tap. That clears your best score, best level, games played, and bubbles popped on this browser. It cannot be undone.
Why did my Bubble Shooter progress disappear?
Local saves are lost if you clear cookies or site data for the site, switch browsers, use a private window that has since closed, or open the game on a different device. Some privacy tools and OS “lite” modes also wipe local storage. Because the save never left your browser, we cannot recover it from our side.
What browsers does BubbleShooterOnline.app work on?
Any current browser with JavaScript and Canvas support: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop, plus their mobile counterparts. If the board does not respond to input, try updating the browser, disabling a strict script blocker for this site, and reloading.
